Texas has surpassed California to become the largest state for utility-scale solar power generation. The state's utility-scale solar capacity reached 21.9 gigawatts (GW) in the second quarter, ahead of California's 21.1 GW, accounting for one-fifth of the nation's total generation. Texas is not only the largest producer of wind energy in the U.S. but also the second-largest in battery storage. Additionally, there are 12 GW of solar capacity under construction, exceeding the total of the next five states combined. This growth highlights Texas's role as a laboratory for energy and climate initiatives.
